Bio:

Dr. Matthew Lam is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics and Course Leader for Pharmaceutical Science at London Metropolitan University. He has developed an emerging next-generation oral drug delivery platform technology called Liqui-Pellet.

Dr. Lam began his career as a clinical hospital pharmacist after earning his MPharm from King’s College London and training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He later worked at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust before completing a Ph.D. in novel oral dosage forms. He previously lectured at the University of Sussex, where his technology was first developed. He remains a visiting lecturer, contributing to its research and knowledge exchange initiatives.

He holds a patent for a novel drug delivery technology aimed at improving drug efficacy and safety along with being cost-effective and applying green technology. His research emphasizes patient-centered solutions, particularly for individuals with dysphagia, aiming to make medicines safer, more effective, and accessible. He is currently participating in the Innovate UK ICURe programme to explore key issues in drug development and identify strategies to leverage Liqui-Pellet technology.
