Industrial Careers Insights 2024 23 October 2024 The APS New Scientist Focus Group had the honour of hosting undergraduate and graduate students from pharmacy and related courses for the Industrial Careers Insights event at AstraZeneca in Macclesfield. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for the students to gain insights into the careers available in the industrial sector. APS Board Members - Call for Applications 22nd October 2024 Following the retirement of two APS Board Members, the APS is now seeking applications from individuals interested in becoming Board Members. We are particularly interested in applications from those working in pharmaceutical industry and academics working at APS Accredited Universities. The APS Board currently consists of 10 members https://apsgb.co.uk/about-us/ who are registered as Directors of APS at Companies House. This means that becoming a member of the Board brings legal obligations related to the management of APS. Board members are expected to attend at least 4 APS full Board meetings per year (currently approximately every 2 months by Zoom, for 2-3 hours), and regular Board meetings every other week for an hour [...]

In Memoriam - Professor Peter Houghton (London, UK)8th July 2024 It was with great regret that we learnt of the recent, untimely death of Peter Houghton, latterly an Emeritus Professor in the Division of Pharmaceutical Science at King’s College London. Peter was extremely well known both in the UK and world-wide as an expert in pharmacognosy and, in particular, ethnopharmacology. While Peter was himself very well-travelled, frequently visiting remote parts of the world in pursuit of his research, there were countless PhD students and other more senior researchers who travelled to the UK to benefit from his expertise and undertake research with him.
