Amirpasha is currently a Lecturer in Medical Engineering at the University of Huddersfield. His research sits at the interface between biology and engineering, and it is based on three pillars of Materials, Manufacturing, and Monitoring. He graduated with 1st class in BMedSc at University of Birmingham, before completing his Master of Research in developments of new orthopaedic bone cements for vertebroplasty. Amirpasha studied for a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University from 2018-2021. His research involved development of a new fundamental understanding about mechanical performance of 3D-printed bioresorbable polymers for biomedical applications. During his PhD, he developed the first ever microscale design approach “CONVEX” for material extrusion additive manufacturing, which opens up a new size scale for design (e.g. tens of microns design resolution for a 0.4 mm nozzle) and the opportunity for a step change in novel structural geometries as well as new potential for future 3D printing slicer software.
Since joining University of Huddersfield in 2022, he has continued to research material extrusion additive manufacturing in several areas, all enabled by the CONVEX design approach:
Novel structural geometries and design methods
Versatile 3D-printed microfluidic devices for regenerative medicine
Biomedical Material Performance
