For 25 years, the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS) has been the UK’s professional home for Pharmaceutical Scientists – a global community dedicated to improving the development, delivery and understanding of medicines for the benefit of patients.

As a not‑for‑profit organisation, APS exists to champion innovation, nurture opportunity and elevate excellence across the pharmaceutical sciences. We represent individuals and organisations from around the world, supporting them throughout their professional journey and promoting the vital role Pharmaceutical Scientists play in the research, development, manufacture and regulation of medicines, and in understanding how they are used in patients.

Over the past quarter‑century, our work has been guided by four enduring strategic themes that continue to shape everything we do:

  • Establishing and promoting the reputation of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Scientists
  • Influencing policy
  • Furthering scientific knowledge
  • Promoting careers in Pharmaceutical Science
  • As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to:
  • Delivering high‑quality scientific content for our members
  • Attracting and retaining a diverse, engaged and inclusive community
  • Hosting a successful face‑to‑face PharmSci Conference each year
  • Growing and strengthening SAPS so they can help develop the next generation of scientists through community, networking and career‑building opportunities
  • Supporting a vibrant network of Focus Groups, including new groups aligned with emerging scientific areas
  • Growing and strengthening our accredited institution community

For 25 years, APS has stood at the forefront of Pharmaceutical Science – connecting people, advancing knowledge and shaping the future of medicines. As we look ahead, our mission remains clear: to champion the science and the scientists who improve health outcomes for patients everywhere.
