Message from PharmSci 2027 Scientific Programme Lead
We are in an exciting period in pharmaceutical sciences, where advances in artificial intelligence (AI), data science, advanced manufacturing and focus on innovation are transforming how we discover, develop, make and deliver medicines. With this in mind, we have chosen the theme for PharmSci 2027 as:
Accelerating Access to Medicines
Innovation + Translation = Global Patient Impact
To me, this theme reflects the true purpose of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences: not only to advance science and generate new knowledge, but also to translate those discoveries into safe, effective, high-quality medicines that reach patients more quickly and more equitably around the world. In our field, science only changes the world when it reaches the patient.
I am truly honored to serve as Scientific Programme Lead for PharmSci 2027. Together with
Dr Kofi Asare-Addo, I look forward to working closely with the APS Board, Focus Groups and you to develop a scientific program that stimulates new ideas and encourages collaboration that inspires and helps accelerate access to better medicines for patients worldwide. Whether you are in academia, industry, healthcare, regulation or emerging technologies, your perspective and active participation can help shape a conference that is relevant and impactful for all of us.
My hope is that when we come together in Glasgow in 2027, not only we will celebrate cutting edge science but also we challenge ourselves to think differently, collaborate more effectively and find new ways to accelerate access to better medicines for patients around the world. So my call to action is:
1. Mark your calendar: 6-8 September 2027, Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
2. Prepare to participate with your ideas over the coming weeks.
