Sarah Dilworth
Head of Product and Process Design and Development, AstraZeneca
Sarah is a pharmacist who completed a PhD in Materials Science at the London School of Pharmacy (now part of UCL). She started her career in the pharmaceutical industry at Controlled Therapeutics, before working at Inveresk Research and then joining AstraZeneca Macclesfield in 2004. Sarah worked in the Product Development department from 2004 to 2014, progressing drug product formulation and manufacturing process development for a range of oral and parenteral projects across all stages of clinical development to marketing approval. From 2014 to 2018 she worked in on-market technical support, leading the EMEA Manufacturing Science and Technology group. Sarah then stepped away from technical roles, and from 2018 to 2023, she led the PT&D Project Management Office, working with senior stakeholders to secure functional and project budgets and portfolio prioritisation within PT&D. Since 2023, Sarah has been Head of Product and Process Design and Development in the New Modalities and Parenteral Development department in PT&D, leading a group of approximately 30 scientists to develop commercial formulation and manufacturing processes for a range of challenging projects, including oligonucleotides and peptides. Sarah lives in Macclesfield and enjoys a busy family life outside work.
Kofi Asare-Addo
Reader in Pharmaceutics, University of Huddersfield and Member of the APS Board
Kofi is a Reader in Pharmaceutics and the Pharmacy Admissions Tutor at the University of Huddersfield. Kofi completed his PhD at the Medway School of Pharmacy, University of Kent in 2012. His PhD was an Industrial CASE studentship with the University and the polymer company Colorcon. His research work specifically focused on the development of an in-vitro testing method to investigate drug release from hypromellose matrix tablets under fed and fasted conditions. Kofi also became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2014 and is on the Board of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS). Kofi successfully collaborates with other universities and several pharmaceutical industries.
Clare Rawlinson Malone
Senior Director, Head of GMP Testing Moreton, Bristol Myers Squibb
Clare’s organization is responsible for Method Validation and Transfer, GMP sample testing, reference material testing, Analytical Project Leadership, and Market Life Stability. Recently, Clare was appointed Interim Head of the Moreton Bristol Myers Squibb site. She is currently leading the design and development of new laboratories that balance flexibility and minimize environmental impact, while also incorporating diversity and inclusion needs as core design principles.
Clare is a Pharmacist with a PhD in drug-polymer systems, material characterization, and in-vitro performance assessment tools. She spent six years as a Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutics at the Universities of Reading and Bradford, contributing to curriculum development, General Pharmaceutical Council accreditation, and supervising numerous Masters and PhD students. Clare joined Bristol Myers Squibb in 2011 as a formulator within Portfolio Enabling Technologies, establishing herself as a subject matter expert in the characterization and analysis of enabling oral formulations, including amorphous materials, spray-dried dispersions, and novel polymeric materials. She initially led formulation teams and later transitioned to leading analytical development teams, subsequently moving from technical development to project and people management. Clare has directed and contributed to programs from Phase 1 to commercialization. Outside of work, Clare enjoys singing, salsa dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family outdoors.

Anna Chadburn
Pre-Commercial Manager, AstraZeneca
Anna started her career at AstraZeneca on the Pharmaceutical Development & Technology Graduate Program. Since then, she worked across the business taking roles in CMC Development Functions, Digital Transformation Programs, Global Supply Chain & Strategy and Sustainability. Currently, she holds the role of Pre-Commercial Manager where she is responsible for coordinating the operational activities required to ensure new medicine launches are completed on time and in full. Anna is a qualified pharmacist and holds a Master of Science in Engineering Degree from the FH-Campus Wien, Vienna.
