Welcome to the New Scientist Focus Group
We are a group committed to providing opportunities for students, undergraduates and postgraduates and newly appointed scientist to become involved in developing their skills and experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
What We Do
The New Scientist Focus Group aims to achieve the following:
- Provide advice to new scientists on the potential career paths and development opportunities available to them within the pharmaceutical sciences.
- Demonstrate the diversity of pharmaceutical sciences and highlight the opportunities available to scientists from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines.
- Promote interaction and collaboration between new and eminent scientists.
- To attract new scientists to the APS by engaging and educating them about the aims and benefits of the APS and encourage them to become members of the APS.
New Scientist Events
PharmSci International Conference
A session at the annual PharmSci International Conference which showcases new talent alongside newly appointed leaders in the academic and industrial fields.
Industrial Careers Insights
A yearly face to face conference at a major pharmaceutical site as well as a yearly virtual mini event both designed to showcase the opportunities available to new scientists within the pharmaceutical sciences using eminent speakers chosen from across a range of disciplines.

why you should get involved?
We are always keen to hear from pharmaceutical scientists who would be willing to be involved in the NSFG. You can volunteer to
join the committee or simply offer to help out at an individual event. We’d be happy to hear from you with ideas of future events
you’d like us to organise.
